John Luther is the Detective Chief Inspector of London's Serious Crime Unit. After investigating a child serial killer, Luther suffers a mental breakdown that threatens his marriage. His almost obsessive commitment to work costs him dearly, as he struggles with inner demons almost as dangerous as the criminals he chases.
