Synopsis

Various residents of the small town of Mont-Rouge, New Brunswick, are at the local bar during the annual festival celebrations when Tim Clarkson fails to show up for his scheduled speech. Where is he? His ex-wife and business partner Agnès Deveau starts searching and eventually finds his dead body near the bridge to his lavish mansion a few kilometres from the bar.

It's an almost unsolvable crime because there's so little evidence. Manon and Luc have to look under every rock, putting them into close contact with Mont-Rouge's dark underbelly. The picture-perfect town isn't so perfect after all.

Starting with the murder victim himself, who did so much harm to so many people that the list of suspects keeps getting longer. As the investigation continues, Manon learns more about the true nature of the townspeople and has to come to terms with the secrets that are suddenly revealed. Will their fast-moving investigation lead Manon and Luc to the killer? And what's the point of it anyway? To avenge a monster?
