On October 8, 1956, the first episode of Belles histoires des pays d'en haut was aired on television. The series, already a big hit on the radio, allowed thousands of viewers put a face to many colourful characters, chief among them Séraphin Poudrier; his father, Évangéliste; Father Labelle, known as the king of the North; Donalda; Alexis Labranche; Honoré Mercier and Arthur Buies. With this reprise, we will rediscover the characters of a classic dramatic series and the everyday lives of the first settlers in the North, the Laurentian pioneers, brilliantly played by Gabriel Gascon, Paul Dupuis and Denise Filiatrault.
