Inspired by the bestselling novel When Calls the Heart by Janette Oke, “L'appel du cœur” tells the story of Elizabeth Thatcher, a young teacher from a wealthy family who is starting her career in Hope Valley, a small mining town in the Canadian West during the 19th century. Arriving just after a major explosion at the mine that killed almost all of the community’s men, Elizabeth must adapt to life on the frontier. She becomes friends with Abigail Stanton, a kindly widow, and meets Royal Canadian Mounted Police constable Jack Thornton, who is investigating the terrible disaster.
