A marginal who's opted out of the system, Marc-André is living a simple life he pretends is by choice. His friends François, Evelyne and Patrick are all high flyers at Stratégie Investissement Québec, though another pal, Vincent, has chosen a more humdrum existance as a bureaucrat in the wake of a burnout.
For Marc-André's birthday, François offers him the chance to return to investment banking — albeit down at the bottom rung, where he can get a fresh start.
François's partner Evelyne, a financial expert and Marc-André's best friend since university, urges him to accept, reminding him that he's wasting his potential. After five months on maternity leave, she too feels the pressure to get back to the grind so as not to forfeit her standing, expertise or experience.
Will he accept? Will he return to the environment he left four years ago, swearing never to return — a punishing milieu that, despite his obvious talent, ultimately got the better of him?
