This four-episode dramatic miniseries deals with the early years of Pierre Elliott Trudeau's public life, his stand against the Duplessis regime and the all-powerful clergy in the era of great darkness in Quebec, the birth of the journal Cité libre, and his friendship with those who shared his beliefs, like Gérard Pelletier and Jean Marchand.
