Radio-Canada is proud to launch Mordu, a new cooking and food platform
Tuesday, February 16, 2021 – Radio-Canada is proud to launch Mordu, a new French-language cooking and food platform that brings together the full slate of the public broadcaster's culinary content under one roof – mordu.ca. Cooking enthusiasts from across the country will find more than 3,000 recipes along with stories, tips and tricks from pros, local food news, and exclusive digital originals to inform and entertain them.
Since the 1950s, Radio-Canada has been a preferred destination for anyone interested in cooking and food. From pioneers like Jehane Benoît and Germaine Gloutnez, to Sœur Angèle, to current star chefs like Ricardo and Geneviève O'Gleman, Radio-Canada stars have dominated the Quebec food scene. And starting today, all that heritage and appetizing foodie content has a single, 100% digital home: Mordu.
“The idea that inspired us to create this online destination is that having fun preparing meals and being informed about nutrition leads to better eating habits. Wellness and the wealth of cooking culture in our communities across Canada are key components of Mordu's strategy and content.”
Maxime St-Pierre,
Executive Director, Digital Media.
As the natural digital extension of the top-rated shows Ricardo, 5 chefs dans ma cuisine, Manger, L'épicerie and Les chefs!, Mordu not only aggregates all of Radio-Canada's cooking and food content, but also features online exclusives.
Savourer.ca, the companion web magazine to Savourer, is also making the transition to Mordu, complementing the TV show which launched last September.
“Mordu is in sync with my values and mission to simplify people's daily lives with healthy recipes that are exciting, kitchen organization tips, and advice on how to be more environmentally friendly. Now, this will all be available on Mordu, on an even bigger scale.”
Geneviève O'Gleman,
Nutritionist and the host of Savourer
Users will also enjoy access to hundreds of video tutorials, with cooking techniques explained by instructors at the ITHQ, Quebec's hotel and culinary teaching institute, and recipes, trends, and features from publisher partners such as Les Éditions La Presse. A multitude of tips and tricks for beginner cooks and those looking to up their kitchen game are available; plus videos on the basics of cooking in partnership with La Tablée des Chefs.
Our original web-series' promises to be entertaining. Delving into our stars' favourite dishes, revealing the secrets to legendary menu items from restaurants across Canada, and reinventing recipes from our black & white TV archives to bring them into line with 21st-century tastes. You'll find vegetarian variations with Loounie, lighter pastry offerings with Rémi Couture, and a tropical touch of Martinique with chef Jérémie Jean-Baptiste. Comedian Jérémie Larouche will answer cooking questions pulled from search engines, young chef and YouTuber Rosalie Lessard will have advice for kitchen rookies, and Geneviève O'Gleman will be our guide on culinary travels.
Mordu is Radio-Canada's foodie platform, and has everything you need to know about cooking and food, served up as an engaging, advertising friendly experience, designed for digital.
