Jean Mongeau, General Manager and Chief Revenue Officer, CBC & Radio-Canada Media Solutions, moving on to pursue new opportunities
Thursday, October 24th, 2019 – After almost 40 years in our industry, including over 25 with CBC/Radio-Canada, Jean Mongeau, General Manager and Chief Revenue Officer, Media Solutions, will be stepping down from his role. The effective date of his departure is February 24, 2020.
His career path has led him in many directions, from the arts and financial services sectors to the media business. After starting out with CBC/Radio-Canada from 1980 to 1995 as a member of the Sales and Marketing team, he worked for a variety of companies before returning to the public broadcaster in 2009 as General Manager, Sales and Marketing. He went on to become General Manager of the Revenue Group in 2011 and, three years later, was appointed General Manager and Chief Revenue Officer. In this role, he spearheaded the merger of CBC/Radio-Canada's advertising sales and distribution operations with an eye to creating the single, national organization we have today – the CBC & Radio-Canada Media Solutions Group.
Barbara Williams, Executive Vice-President of CBC, wanted to commend Jean Mongeau for his remarkable dedication: “He has a long list of achievements in our industry and played a lead role in driving its transformation on the local, national (thinktv and Numeris) and international levels through his involvement in the European Group of Television Advertising (EGTA) and the Global TV Group. We congratulate him for those initiatives.”
“On behalf of everyone, I sincerely thank him for the great work he's done over all these years and for his tireless commitment,” said Michel Bissonnette, Executive Vice-President of Radio-Canada. “You'll also be glad to know that someone as talented as Jean will continue to be active in the industry as a coach.”
Passionate about his work, Jean Mongeau has a parting wish for our industry: “I hope to see it accelerate the paradigm shift that will take us from utility to creativity, as we join forces to take on the digital giants. We need to turn words into action. We need to embrace the global market to remain competitive and ensure the success of all domestic players.”
CBC/Radio-Canada thanks Jean Mongeau for his outstanding contribution.
