Synopsis

During the barbarian invasions from 300 to 600 A.D., Rome was sacked on several occasions. Thus began a dark period for Europe, which would face another wave of invasions in the 9th century. By far, the biggest threat came with the Vikings, who landed in Great Britain and western France. But these formidable Scandinavian warriors also breathed new life into European cities, and their ships carried them as far as America.
