Promoting the unique value of Quebec media
MONTREAL, May 14, 2020 – With the vitality of media and local content publishers being more important than ever, the key players in the media community are mobilizing to encourage responsible media practices in Quebec and promote local media buying with the launch of the platform NosMediasLocaux.org.
Even well before the current crisis, many stakeholders were concerned about the sustainability of our local media. The worldwide pandemic we are currently experiencing has reminded us of how essential local press is to the population, while at the same time ad revenues are on an even sharper decline. In the face of this adversity, the whole media community has mobilized to promote the value of local platforms and content with concrete initiatives to encourage advertisers and media placement agencies to buy local media space.
Supported by a Quebec collective of media and local people, the NosMediasLocaux.org platform provides a directory of Quebec media outlets as well as statistics that demonstrate how buying local media is not only a responsible choice but a useful and effective advertising strategy for advertisers.
This new platform also makes it possible to collectively consider actions to implement to ensure our industry's sustainability. In addition, it serves to raise awareness among individuals and businesses of the importance of supporting local talent in the ways we each can.
The partners also commend the joint initiative by the Association of Creative Communications Agencies (A2C) and the Conseil des directeurs médias du Québec (CDMQ) who just published the “Manifeste pour des pratiques médias responsables” [Appeal for Responsible Media Practices] with the objective of boosting advertising investments for our local media.
